A team at Flora First Christian Church began dreaming of building a childcare and education center in 2018, wanting to give First Step Preschool a home and expand our ability to serve the community. First Step Preschool has been an integral part of the community for many years and the staff and students and families deserve a building designed specifically for them.

The Board of Directors at The Children’s Garden have been working with Cornerstone Design and Dann Keiser to put our dream on paper. The building project design has 5 classrooms that can be used for any age group, a large multipurpose room, a serving kitchen, and an administration office and teacher workroom.

As we began to search for a location to build, the Town of Flora graciously joined our project and donated the property of the Old Brethren Home on State Road 18. As we move forward, this donation of land will support our grant applications as investment from our community.
